13 Disney Villains Fashion Updates

Disney Villains fashion updates

Seeing how villains are the new rage as this year, Angelina Jolie will give life – on the big screen – to Disney’s Maleficent, how about we concentrate on their fashion for a moment? After all, Disney Princesses have been constantly refashioned and their wardrobe received one too many makeovers so far!
But bad characters have a nasty way of getting under our skin, so it would be only fair to get their closet through a serious restyling and update the Disney Villains style and fashion beyond the charms and the powers they do or don’t possess. Casting a fashion spell:

1.Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty

The trademark horns, the dark cape with purple details, the green accents, it’s all there as Maleficent takes a turn for the catwalk with this new fashionable outfit as Sashiiko reimagined the classic gothic looking anti-princess.

2.The Evil Queen from Snow White

Although refashioned and revamped, the Evil Queen looks to me even more frightening than she was originally imagined. Her thorny crown and fur-trimmed cape complete the classic trademark blue long dress she was describe to wear (although since Charlize Theron interpreted the Evil Queen, it’s hard to match her fantastic looks).

3.Mother Gothel from Rapunzel

Essentially vain and focused on her appearance, Mother Gothel’s outfit is a classic rendition of a beautiful, also classic costume as imagined by Disney studios for their rendition of Brothers Grimm’s Rapunzel ‘Tangled’.

4.Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

It’s not only the clothes but also the ‘man’ who gets a makeover this time. Dr. Facilier, also known as the Shadow Man, is a very beloved Disney villain hailing from New Orleans and planning to rule it throughout the entire Princess and the Frog movie. He now loses the tall hat but keeps a frightening voodoo-ish necklace and the cards in his pocket. The purple, slender allure of Dr Facilier’s reinvention falls right in line with the modern day’s society gender drama.

5.Jafar from Aladdin

Both Jafar and Dr. Facilier look similar, sharing the same svelte, willowy silhouette and slick features. Clearly a man of vision and style, Jafar is known for three outfits out of which the official Royal Vizier one is revamped and reimagined here, complete with the headdress.

6.Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians

She who represents everything Peta fights against, she who’ll forever be the image of pointless cruelty against animals looks so very aristocratic that her own villainess is diminished by the very stylish appearance as updated so beautifully. The lack of her unpleasant grin helps as well. But make no mistake, this one here is one of the less loved Disney Villains ever!

7.Governor Ratcliffe from Pocahontas

Something of an odd anti-hero, Governor John Ratcliffe too has been refashioned into a slender, tall lady with ruffled collar and the mandatory hat. The Governor himself would’ve been more than proud to see such a vain update of his larger-than-life persona (at least as far as the classic depiction goes).

8.Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The notorious religious figure haunting the streets of Paris and looking for honorable pretexts for his bad deeds has been refashioned in a very stylish manner by Sashii-Kami. The cold, manipulative and heartless villain looks so stylish now, that it’s hard to dislike its original nasty ways.

9.Gaston from Beauty and the Beast

The excellent huntsman amongst Disney’s villains, Gaston, is refashioned in a very active-appropriate look with belted high heeled, knee high boots and pointy shoulders vest. His strong hairy chest is reinvented with subtlety and takes the appearance of a lacey black necklace.

10.Ursula from The Little Mermaid

The larger than life underwater villain gets an effervescent revamping but keeps its watery references straight by wearing what seems to be a swimsuit underneath a tentaculous wavy coat. Both the original and the re-designed update of Ursula keep their blue skin and white-and-blue-streaked hairdo.

11.Lady Tremaine from Cinderella

The Wicked Stepmother from the 1950es (who will be interpreted by the great Cate Blanchett in the 2015 Cinderella movie) is dressed her fashionable, classic part in a burgundy gown. Her grey hair stands proof of her age and her elegant poise is, even in drawing, a clear indication of her beauty and grace.

12. Hades from Hercules

One of the oldest Disney Villains, Hades keeps his cool blue even in the fashion update. The peplum top has blue accents and the blue fire hair keeps its updo counterbalanced by a pair of pointy earrings, just like the original character’s sharp pointed teeth. Honoring his changing color when mad, the round sunglasses with yellow-orange lenses are the perfect accessory! He/she looks like Victoria Beckham and Pink came together in an unapologetic flare of blue inspiration!

13. Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove

Yzma the Cat, although a very elderly Villain in Disney’s interpretation, looks very modern and fashionable in the Sashii Kami update. The extravagant purple that is unique to her character makes quite the statement in this new, modern outfit complete with matching clutch. The feathered earrings are a clear reference to Yzma’s feathered purple collar.

as a special feature: Shan Yu from Mulan

Yet another male character in Disney’s Villains repertoire but brilliantly refashioned into a very stylishly dressed model. Once again, the sunglasses make references of the evil glaze in the character’s eyes whereas the clothes are very similar to the original wardrobe as worn by giant merciless Hun. (you can see more of Sashiiko’s works here)
